"It" is a "SHE"!!

Things just got a whole lot more 'real'.  We had our 19 week ultrasound last week and finally got to get a good look at our little one.  (There sure has been a lot of growth between now and the 8 week ultrasound of the 'peanut')  My mom flew in town for the big reveal (the first grand baby is causing A LOT of excitement in Michigan, and understandably so!) and Corey's mom joined us as well.

Most importantly, the baby had all of the important pieces (heartbeat, lungs, arms, legs, a cute little belly  spine, etc.) and is healthy.  The technician then confirmed whether we wanted to know the gender before zooming in on the lower half (including the cute little butt!).  She said, "well, there are the 3 holes so you know what it is".  We all had to think about that a little bit.  "It's a girl!!!"  The tears started flowing from the Ferrier girls.  Turns out, if it's a boy, you see a little 'rocket ship'.  I'm not sure why she couldn't just say it like it is but that's beside the point.

I experienced my first attempt at 'mother telling daughter what to do and daughter doing whatever the hell she wants'.  She was holding onto what I think is the umbilical cord (had a bit of a Rachel Green moment there and felt dumb asking) and I proceeded to say "let go of that! Why is she doing that?"  The technician's response, "Because she wants to and because she can.  Unfortunately, you can't really control what she does."  I have a feeling I'll have to remind myself of this numerous times throughout the next ten, twenty, thirty plus years :-)

Even though she didn't want to listen to her mama, she's everything I dreamed of and completely perfect.  I have a picture of her (which pretty much resembles a little alien) hanging at my desk and find myself stopping and checking her out from time to time.  She already has the ability to put a huge smile on my face, a few tears in my eyes, and remind me of what's really important in life.

We love you baby girl and we can't wait to hold you in our arms!

Bear with me...

As I'm about to try out this whole motherhood thing, I thought I'd give this whole blog thing a try as well.  Especially with family and friends scattered all over the U.S (and beyond!), I thought this would be a way to keep in touch and share the exciting adventures in our lives without also sharing with all of my Facebook 'friends' that we barely know.  I'm growing up and growing out of Facebook?  Not so fast!  (Corey probably got really excited there for a second...)

We look forward to sharing our journey with you.
xoxo,
Lbs, Lolo, Dad, Ferrier, momma, whatever else you might call me

And for those of you that have been asking for 'bump' updates, here I am at 12 weeks and at 16. Definitely starting to 'pop'.  I apologize for the poor picture quality.  I'll be sure to improve in the future :-)
